Santa Cruz Stigmata - now with "Gravel Plus" content

I have been thinking really hard about getting one lately. All the reviews online seem to be really positive. I would use this for both road and gravel rides (swap out wheelsets).

One concern I have is the disc brakes. I hate noisy bikes, and any sort of brake pad rub when out of the saddle, etc. would drive me nuts. Is this an issue at all?

Any other issues based on your experiences?

Thanks.

Stigmata

The Santa Cruz Stigmata is a great bike.
Sizing runs a bit big IMO.
Make sure you get good hydraulic brakes- Not cheapies. I like XTR 9000 calipers.
They run true, stay cool, and largely don't make noise.

I've one also. It sees asphalt & dirt in probably equal proportions. Mine has mechanical discs and I've had no issues with them (Sram). I like it.

don't have one but there's a TON of people in my area that race cx on one, and it grows every year, if that says anything. I've eyed 'em before, as the geo is awesome for cx, gravel and all-around riding. could definitely be a N=1 type bike.

as for brakes, the fact that it's thru-axle front and rear is a plus.

Thanks for the feedback so far. The more I read about this bike, the more I want one

Anyone know if the rear will take a true 45 mm tire? The official spec is 41 mm.

Here's a few photos with a 42mm Continental Speedride in there:

There's two or three mm between the tire and the chainstay. It's difficult to get a decent photo. This bike & tire combo won't see any mud. :-)

45mm?

If you need a 45mm tire you should be getting a Highball, not a Stigmata.

I almost bought one of these back when they had an extra 15% off, but decided I didn't want to be stuck with CX-1...

I imagine they'll run a coupon again if 58cm is what you need...but that price is good as is and they could run out while waiting...

I have one on the bike stand...waiting for parts! it's a nice frame and fork. the 54 size seems to be about the same as my other bikes. I'm not crazy about the PF BB but it looks like it should be easy to run the wiring and hose in the frame.

the rear clearance is limited to 41, but it looks like there is room in the fork for a 45s.

Thanks! Looks like that is the max in the back, assuming those 42s measure true to size.

can this bike do a 650b option to get a little wider rubber in there?

it's not the type of bike i'm usually drawn to, but i was looking at a cannondale slate the other day at the local REI, and it's a pretty slick bike, based on 650B wheels. just a thought.

Looks like clearance to the chainstays is the limiting factor; I figure 650b wouldn’t help with that, or would it?

edit: i'm looking at those pics above, i think you're right, since there is a "cutout" for the 700c tire to live.

That is a great price, even without the 15% off. I would be a size 58 too.
