2019 Giro ...comments with spoilers!!

Yowser, crappy day today, ITT, steep uphill finish, rain comin' down in buckets..
The nancys at the TdF would whine and ask for a shorter, safer, drier day but not the GIRO!!

Even the tifosi are out in strength...

Here, I use flobikes, becareful of tiz.use with a imac..'some' virus issues with a PC..russian based website.

Looking at the past week we realize how lucky we were two years ago when we had absolutely perfect weather for our week!

Did not see the stage, what happened to yates?? thought he was going to be right there... nibali looks like did ok...

Giro will be interesting now because everybody is pretty much in get time back mode from now on, the good part is that there's still 2 more weeks. This was the tour it could have been fnished already. My only bad thing is that the dutch is gone :/ Oomen?

I haven't been following pro cycling very religiously, so can someone catch me up on what the "real" GC is right now? I was expecting some mix of Roglic/Dumoulin/Yates/Nibali to be contesting weeks 2 and 3, but half those guys are out, for all practical purposes.

e.g. I know that Conti is probably not a real threat, Roglic has a big lead, I see Nibali there about 1:40 back of Roglic... who else actually matters?

Roglic appears to be running away with it since Dumoulin is out. Beyond him, Nibali, and Yates, I'd look for Zakarin, Majka, Mollema, Lopez, Gallopin, and Landa.

The problem is that way too many people needs time and all of them from different teams, at some point specially going uphill a salad of attacks will come out of nowhere and who knows what will happen again. TD is gone but ooomen is not handicapped horse either, nibali gonna have to go for it, same mollema and a few spaniard teams. And even amador looks pretty good prospect at this point.

What happened to yates? thought he was going to do ok, he lost way too much time IMO.

I'm cheering for Nibali. Hope he finds a crack in Roglic's armor.

Actually, I like Roglic, too. Either of those guys would be fun for me.

Yates seems to be either eminently cocky, or trying to play some psychological games. Not so impressed with his riding or his schtick.

Zakarin +1:56
Majka +2:04
Formolo +2:52
Landa +3:03
Yates +3:11
Oomen +3:39

Nibali will not lose this Giro. He will receive plenty of "home cookin".

Yeah, but a Slovenian winner (and defending champ) could open up new grande partenza $$ options.

tip of the hat to Bora, the team that was allegedly built around Peter Sagan... they've got some other decent riders on that squad.

So, saw superman and landa going for it, then the cast just died so no idea what happened, went to look and roglic and company arrived at the same time than superman and landa... means a lot of things... between them that landa is still not a consistent rider... which always been his bigger problem IMO, dude some days is there and some days is just gone... superman still not ready?? Roglic is rocking big time.

Nibali was ok today but yates still so so, still a lot of climbing to do tho you cant discount yates yet.

?

Lopez and Landa took 28 seconds.

Roglic is riding super well. I think that he should be concerned about his lack of mountain domestiques, the quantity of GC guys, and his gap over Nibali.

Plenty more to come
