Tasty - I see the Pliny, but what else do you have there?

Bikes are choice too.

Gorgeous pics! That is a big ride. Did you setup a shuttle? or spend the night out and then ride back the way you came the next day?

No shuttle. We rode from Flat Pine Dam area to Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon NP which was over 60 miles and 9200ft of climbing. There is a lodge at Cedar Grove where we stayed the night. The next day we rode up to Sequoia NP and back down the dirt road after descending about 5 miles on HWY 180.

Here’s my dropbar mtn Lobster out on a cloudy day with the original steel fork. My build journey with this bike started out as a full rigid mtn bike to front suspension to wall hanger for a few years to dropbar with a carbon fork and now dropbar with the original steel fork. I popped the steel fork back on since it’s got rack mounts and I’m prepping for a bikepacking trip. The steel fork is certainly heavier than the carbon but I had forgotten how nice the bike rides and handles with the original fork. It’s like hanging out with an old friend and remembering the glory days.

Finished this 'Mongrel' Just before heading to Sacramento last weekend, rather weekend before last I suppose it more correct.

I started with a Pro-CX Frame, Carl Strong hand made steel fork, and all the other bits as seen. 28/42 Force Carbon Cranks with 4 bolt MTN Spider/rings. RD take up to a 40t, I used carbon bar Cons ala MicroShift...

When I first built it up to ride is off road to see if I was going to spend the effort to customize as seen in these pics, a friend said he like what a Mongrel it looked like.

So I took his lead and did up a vinyl augmentation and cleared over the front 1/2. [2/3?]

One pic with 38x700c Soma Supple Vitesse, one with the 47x650b Teravails. Last pic was of the initial test mode state.
