King Headset, the first one I bought and put on the MX Leader is old enough to buy itself a drink.

Fillet brazed steel frames, just a beautiful thing to look at. Maybe not better than any other method of joining tubes, but with the right colors.........

Silver hubs and spokes with black rims.

11 speed Campy, I was skeptical in late 08 but for no good reason. Even the chain tool.

Shimano pedals, all of them. Shimano never went through an awkward SGR phase.

Selle San Marco Regal saddles. I just put a red one on the new (to me) Lynskey that came off LenJ's Sachs that he was riding when he was hit from behind. The saddle was scuffed, the frame was completely straight and ready to ride. I can live with the scuff.

LBS for whenever I get in over my head...

- A Schwinn retailer who reassembled the three speed hub on my Stingray.

- Sheldon Brown's shop which always came through with the small/weird parts I needed

- A certain maestro in Boulder who has rebuilt my Ergo levers more than once

- College Park Cycles who took a nearly new Proteus frame in trade for a custom Condor road frame, still can't figure out why Larry did that...

- Bicycle Classics

- Brandford

- Landrys, for always being there

- International Bicycle for selling me a used Motobecane team track bike for stupid low money, and for usually being there

- Belmont Wheelworks for great support, great people, great fit. And Peter Mooney

- The Wall Cyclery in Manayunk, Philly, named, after the, um, Wall. For selling me my first mountain bike, an early Wicked Fat Chance, after years of refusing to consider anything that didn't have Clement Criterium Setas glued on. (Owned by my uncle and cousin...)

- Georgetown Cyclery for having a gold plated Condor hanging on their wall

And my wife for putting up with all this $hit

Swiftwick socks

something more recent, don't have as many years in the belt but very impressed with its overall quality nonetheless, even managed to convert the whole family to wearing them not just for cycling without doing anything more than leaving a few extra pairs out on the table for them to pick it up and try for themselves. I am quite confident that this will go down as one of the best buys.

Might be just a bell but if everything on a bike was so well designed, both functionally and aesthetically, and so reliable, we’d probably get bored as hell because there’d never be anything to moan about.

Record hubs and my Campy cassette, the hubs aren’t a pleasure to look at, just black barrels, but man are they smooth, year after year. And the freewheel, superbly silent! I know, I know, lots of people love noisy freewheels. Not me, I love the silence. And that they are, perfect for my needs.

Well, you don't NEED a noisy freewheel because you have a bell!

Square taper bottom brackets. Especially cartridge type. Still riding one in a hybrid bike for 20 years.
