Barrel adjuster /cable stop for Merlin Agilis?

Hello All:
I picked up a Merlin Agilis from Paceline classifieds and am stumped on the derailleur cable guides. See pic below. They are not threaded and I'm not sure what should insert into them.
The squared off portion suggests that something jams against that maybe?
This is the first frame I've built up without old school shifter bosses so please help out an old schooler.
Thanks in advance,
Jim

interesting.

i should go look at my Merlin and see...

Campagnolo includes stepped cable end stops like this with their cable kit, maybe something like this is what they have in mind?

Thanks. I had some of those in my stash and tried. The large diameter is only a tiny bit bigger than the opening. Probably wouldn't be a good idea.
In the pic below there appear to be some kind of adjusters. I'm imaging some small square nut with an adjusting barrel.

This looks like a hex nut and a barrel.

Above is correct. Merlin used a barrel adjuster with a spring and hex nut. Barrel adjuster just slid thru the hole, the spring put a little tension on the barrel adjuster while the nut fit against the flat side of the head tube fitting.

Yup, just get 'normal' barrel adjusters and then go to hardware and get wee nuts...
