tequila
I have had the Cabo Reposado and it is pretty good.
This one is also excellent and not at the top of the price list: http://www.chinacotequila.com/index2.htm Their reposado is especially good, imho. |

For those of you who have traveled through Rhode Island during the summer time, you are most likely aware of Del's frozen Lemonade. That is some good stuff on a hot summer day. Now, add a splash of good Tequilla to that and you have a delicious, killer refreshment. I'm not a big drinker, but I like an occasional good red, pint of Guinness, or good Tequilla. IMHO, A Del's with Tequilla is a must try if your ever passing through. Heck, drop me a line and it will be my treat.

Mezcal isn't about the worm anymore
High quality mezcal is now being produced in Oaxaca. Unfortuantely for most of the world, the majority of the good stuff is being produced in small distilleries that can not afford to comply with exportation standards. Basically, it's gotta be consumed inside of Mexico. This is staight-up sippin' standard hooch. The product is where aged tequila was 20 years ago. Under-appreciated nectar of the agave.

Did you know?
Why didn't Hitler drink Tequila?
It made him mean. In my drinking days I got stupid enough on gin. My neighbor and riding partner is from Guadalajara, he brought back some small distillery craft Tequila a friend of his makes. My wife is a Tequila snob, she says as others have said here, they don't share the really good stuff with us gringos... |

Mexicans know tequila, and all the mexican immigrants in my area (legal or otherwise) seem to be buying El Jimador brand despite the fact that it's not the cheapest and not the best advertised in this country.

I go to Mexico every year and I'm surprised at the number of Tequila brands that I don't see in the U.S. I suppose that one of the reasons is just sheer numbers; the maker has to be able to supply the U.S. distributor with enough product to make it worthwhile. But yearly I make the trip south of the border to do the necessary extensive research so I can bemoan which brand I can't find in the U.S., for the rest of the year. So far, Ancestra has been my favorite for 2 years running.
