OT in the regular season is a non-issue as the teams play an extended period and ties are allowed.

The issue, if any, is in the playoffs.

The problem is the NFL does not want double or triple OT (if you played whole periods) for safety/fatigue issues. The college rules might be better as at least both teams have a chance to put their offenses on the field.

my off the cuff OT proposal.

one 10 or 15 minute period. if still tied a field goal shootout ensues with each kicker beginning at the 40 yard line and progressively getting longer until someone one ups the other..or best out of 3 or 5 field goals made

[QUOTE=MattTuck;2491098]Not sure if it is "fixed", as in the outcome is predetermined... if that were true, it is hard to understand how the patriots keep winning when they are the most despised team in the league.

I beg to disagree, the Cowboys still hold the title as most hated. Any organization so pompous to claim to be "Americas team" surely deserves the title.

I don’t think it unfair as is. The Chiefs would have had a chance to score if the Pats scored a field goal. The Chiefs would have had a chance to score if the defense held Brady, but it was pathetic in OT — three conversions from 3/10.

Just do the college system. Each team gets a shot, each fan base that buys tickets and jerseys and bobble heads gets to see its team take a shot. The product is entertainment, maximize it.

Ugh, the Lions. The up side of being a Lions fan is that they generally are out of it pretty early, so there isn't usually any late-season hand-wringing to endure.

A legit run every decade-ish would be nice, though...

Ok but how could one apply that principal to Le Tour?

I love the narrative that Brady is a cheater.

Please elaborate the instances.

His suspension was for not cooperating with the NFL. The equipment guys got hit for tampering with the balls.

Still surprised to this day that QBs who admitted publicly to altering ball pressure (Aaron Rogers for one) got no notice at all.

I actually don't really buy it either (edit: the narrative that is), I just love how it rankles Pats fans. The whole deflate gate thing was comic spectacle from the league, like watching WWF. My general feeling on professional football is that almost everybody cheats.

I do love that someone at the station put it up on the screen. Although I read today he got fired for his efforts. Too bad.

That whole off-schedule phone destruction circus was Clouseau-level chicanery by the well-watered one.
