Gotcha. I agree 100% that a builder, and more importantly, a well fitted bicycle can feel very special. Now you are getting me interested in trying to find a XCR Peg!

It's a pleasure to ride, so smooth. so comfortable. and easily pointed and ridden at speed. what's not to like? weight? it is steel after all.

sometimes I feel like selling it. then I ride it and think, idiot. no.

a different question: could this be the "one" bike in the stable.

fortunately no one here including me need answer that

I had Scott Quiring build an XcR frame, I sold it because I thought Ti rode better. A forumite (onsight512) bought it and loves it. He responded to the same inquiry you made in 2020.

Wow, I guess I should have done my diligence and searched previous threads.
My Bad. Hope you all won't be too harsh for duplicate posts.
yes I'm still hovering over this subject and it's still ticking away in the back of my mind. Probably will until I can sort a builder that resonates with me.

The Stelbel Antenore would be my first choice of the current offerings that I know of, but again, I really don't want to go across the pond.

I don't know what's going on at IF, their website is up but I've not heard anything about them in some time...

Even the xcr ones? Reason I'm asking is because a US cinelli rep recently confirmes d that all steel bikes where now built in house except for the cinelli xcr when I asked him.

I must’ve started a half dozen threads ruminating about springing for a carbon frame. I know this because Baron Blubba kept a running tally. So, you’re forgiven

I had forgotten about the availability of the custom version of Eddy Merckx CORSA model:
Custom-made frames
- 100% tailored to your body
- Handmade steel or titanium
- The steel is a unique Merckx mix of Columbus Spirit HSS tubes and Columbus Xcr tubes
- Custom color and style options
- Choice between external or internal cable routing
- Frame and fork weight steel: 2.3 kg (steel)
- Frame and fork weight titanium: 2.1 kg (road version)

These are welded by Johan Vranckx who has welded at EM for 40 years.
