My unfancy rig.

This pic was taken on Bald Mtn, above Shaver Lake. This spot is right in the middle of the still burning Creek Fire

Maybe the most fun bike I have.

recent stops on eastbound leg

I drove from SoCal to MD. Some pics I took on Comanche trail, Palo Dura Canyon, TX, then Slaughterhouse Trails in Bentonville, AR (only took one pic, was having too much fun just going along. Next was Glade Runner at St James MO, super fun flowing trail through the woods with some more techy rocky side routes near the creek/river area. Finally Scales Lake in Boonville IN--just a pure fun roller coaster through the woods, lots of little down/ups and tight turns. I also rode at Morgantown WV, but took no pics.

edit: all pics loaded at 90 degrees, no idea why, they show upright on my laptop?

and west bound

stopped at Capitol View State Park in Frankfort KY--great fun; well kept trail network near the river.
Then back to Scales Lake
Then Creve Coeur Park just west of St Louis--nice flowing trail through the woods. LARGE aerial course there too
ailed to ride in DeSoto KS due to a huge cross country meet, so on to Lake Wilson where I just had time before sunset to do the Marina Loop--very fun, I did it reverse of mtbproject so had some tough step-ups but it was very manageable. DEfinitely worth the stop if you are on I-70
From there I did a big drive to Western CO, so I could knock out 2 epic rides my last day: AM ride at Fruita 18 road area--such great trails. I had so much fun I didn't stop much for pics--only one was my least favorite--zippity do dah. A one-note type of trail up and down the ridge line, which for me just tested my guts/confidence for screaming VERY fast almost straight down a line into wash-board-rattling brutality and then up again. All the other trails were so much more fun--I had one section of the frontside trail after western zippity trail that I'd not clear on my best day, and had to hike a bike that section. From Fruita I drove to LaVerkin UT for afternoon ride on JEM, Goosebumps, Cryptobiotic, back up cryptobiotic to JEM, and back around to the truck. Most fun for me was Fruita and JEM area trails--nothing like 2-3 mile swooping, curving, dropping, rolling awesomeness
Most smiles with no pucker factor at all for me was St James MO and Scales Lake, IN, but I do love winding through forests--both offer about 7 mile loops with some additional options, and the main risk is just going too fast for some of the unexpected corners. Bentonville was great too, but I'd need more time there to get familiar with routes and best directions to link things--it also goes in and out of a pretty popular park and residential area, and I prefer the more wilderness feel. But the trails are well maintained and very fun.
