Paint-shop recommendation - Bay Area?
Hey y'all,
Thinking about getting a paint job but have no idea where to go or how much this will run me. Thinking I want to mimic the two-tone pink/purple paint from a 1992 Basso Astra. Any recommendations? Thanks! Dan |

D&D cycles in San Leandro, or Ed Litton in Richmond. I'd guess you're looking at somewhere between $600 and $1000.

Could always order a couple rattle cans from the Squid Bikes crew and DIY.
Or send it up to them, Sacramento ain't that far. |

Joes carbon repair Watsonville.
I’ve used Joe for some touch up work and seen the frames in his shop that he is repainting. Look pretty amazing.
And the work he’s done for me is flawless. I’d have him paint an entire frame in a heartbeat. Jon |

I had the exact same question a few years ago when I wanted a new bike but couldn't afford it. New paint on my Cervelo scratched the itch though.
I went with this guy: http://felizcustompainting.com/bicycles Super nice guy and a great quality paint job. Back in the late 90's before LeMond bikes was sold to Trek the company was based in Reno and Louie is the one that painted all of those frames. Most of what he does is car work, but he still does bikes. The price was right too. Definitely worth shipping the frame. I shipped it and then drove up to Reno to pick it up. My understanding is that California environment laws (or something like that) end up making painting more expensive here. Price was a fraction of what I was quoted by Calfee. Highly recommend.

D&D is in San Lorenzo, not San Leandro. Rick does super work promptly and professionally. Ed does absolutely top notch work, but takes forever. Not an issue if you're not in a hurry...
