Gravel Bike

I'm sure this has been best to death but anyway.
Looking to buy a gravel bike ( yeah I know), I have a nice road bike and FS MTB, so don't need a cross over so much. There are a couple Ibis Haka MX and SC Stigmata's but at 65 yo and being in chunky Colorado.
Maybe those are too stiff?
Maybe a Niner steel?
Otso Warakin steel or Ti?
Thoughts?
Don't want to break the bank though.
Thanks so much.

Alchemy, Moots, and Mosaic are all in your area.

Not in your budget? If they are, go for it.

At our age perhaps looking at e-bike? Famed hated Specialized...the Creo EVO looks good for the long haul.

You might cruise through the Front Range Craigslist posts. Lots of options.

I have had a Stigmata and it was on the stiffer side of the spectrum. If you want a smooth and fun gravel bike see if you can find a Warbird. I absolutely love mine and although it’s versatile it is also fast, comfortable and just a great overall bike!

Gravel

Yeah $4k for a frameset is not gonna work, all great build ers, my roadie is a Moots. Not on board with the E bike thing (not yet anyway). Chunky=Rocky Mountains.
Basically my wife won't ride anything close to technical so when riding off road with her it's dirt roads or really buff single track. Also we spend some time in Scottsdale AZ lots of kitty litter trails which she loves.
Looking for a 55-56.

Warbird

So the Warbird is more compliant than a Stig?
Can you run 650b wheels?

Yup! It will fit a 2.1 in 650b and I have a 1.95” front 1.8” rear in 700c.

Would be great to know your budget if you're buying new or used.
Can give recommendations accordingly.

Check out the trek checkpoint. The iso coupler thing helps take the edge off.

The BMC URS also has a elastomer thingy at the seat stays and taller heat tube geo for compliance. Last time I looked a complete build with Sram Apex was ~$3k?

I am a fan of the Jamis Renegade series of bikes. I have a steel Exploit that is a couple of years old, and with upgraded wheels, it's a lot of bike for the money. The carbon Renegades are also worth a look if you are willing to spend a little more. (The top-end model retails for $3,700.) https://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/renegadeseries.html

Gravel

I think $4k is the max I would want to spend on a bike like this. Certainly a lot more could be spent on one especially if it was going to be my only bike.
Thanks for all the input so far, I value the experience and the expertise on the forum.

I built this up for $1200 so you don't have to spend that much - Carbonda CFR696, R7000 hydraulic with Ultegra RX, tubeless tyres, fits 650x2.2 or 700x50, 48/32 with 11-36T rear
