J. Diggins is very easy to root for. Spirit. Heart. Postive energy. All team to the last meter. And articulates her emotions well. She's a great role model for the sport and represented our country well. Although that can certainly be said for others at the games.

Bode knows his chit but his monotone delivery is driving me nuts. He doesn't have to be over the top and hyping the USA, just some intonation and inflection.
Diggins and the race call were epic! JMO |

A lifetime ago, we often used to skip work on Tuesdays and head to Cannon mountain for 2 for 1 ski passes. Despite the discounted tickets, it was never crowded and there were always these 2 kids that would absolutely fly down the mountain. Years later while watching the Olympics, I recognized that one of those kids that we used to see was Bode Miller honing his skills long before any of us knew who he was. No idea who the other kid was.
Agree that Bode sounds a bit monotone and he can sometimes run on a bit longer than he probably should. My guess is that he will get better if given the opportunity to hone his skills. |

Miller won six medals in the Winter Olympics, the most of any U.S. skier.
Miller is is the only skier with five or more victories in each of the 5 alpine disciplines; only 10 other skiers have managed a single win in each of the 5 disciplines. Last edited by wallymann; 02-22-2018 at 02:47 PM. |

Bode Miller is one of the greatest skiers of all time.
It's his cross to bear that this is universally recognized in places that follow skiing every year, but in his home country he is a cautionary tale we tell children about underachievement and Bob Costas . . . or something. I forget, because the whole stupid episode is a tiny chapter in his awesome career.

I like Brodie...
But I swear every time he talks about someone losing time they end up with a faster split :-) |

Got more street cred than any of the other announcers - I like him. I wish more sports would employ former athletes with great insight.

Lifelong skier here, where skiing passion tops all others.
I really enjoy Bode's analysis. Yes, his voice is a bit monotone and maybe he talks too much sometimes, but that far outweighs what he actually says. He knows ski racing, he knows the racers, he knows the history, and he's very articulate. I'm sure a lot of people know nothing about racing and just think skiers are simply skiing down a course. He explains the nuances, he explains the differences in the lines the skiers take, he explains the tactics and the risk/reward factors a skier considers. It's good stuff. The last thing I want is want is some non-skier announcer getting all excited while announcing all the runs - especially on this downhill course which is comparatively mundane. There's already too much fabricated drama during the olympics - spare me. Bode is doing a great job. BTW, who the heck placed those first few gates in the downhill? Wow, what a mess. |

Can we get a Venn diagram of Phil Ligget fans and Bode Miller haters?
I imagine its just one big circle if you like shouty, ill-informed commentary about what's happening at any given moment. |
