For TTT fans (Olympic ITT spoiler)
Can we talk about the Jumbo Visma squad next year? They have all of the Tokyo medalists, plus WVA, Tony Martin, Affini, Vingegaard. Who are they gonna lose? Bring back the TTT!

It doesn't change your broader point, but I think R. Dennis is Ineos.
Amazing ride by Roglic, really just a perfect match of rider strength and course. I was worried about him after the road race. Also, great to see Dumoulin back in the saddle and smiling. Poor Stefan Kung is so unlucky - off the medals by a fraction of a second. |

CyclingNews makes it sound like it's all but done that Dennis is going to JV on a 2 year deal.

Guys who finished 2-5 are within four seconds of each other, the winner is over a minute ahead of the silver medalist, and no one here bats an eye?

The real surprise for me here is Kung ahead of Ganna. They are roughly the same size and Kung is not known for his climbing abilities.
Roglic a minute clear of Dumoulin, though spectacular, isn't a shocker in my book. We know he's got the engine and legs, we know he can TT and we know he has a point to prove. Mano a mano, on a course like today, very few in the world can beat him. Maybe Pogacar, or WVA on a good day. Would be interesting to see what happens at Worlds. Would love to see TTT back at the Olympics and Worlds, though I can see equipment management would be a nightmare. Hence my excitement for world tour TTTs. |

Except they were pretty much even for the first 15km. Roglic put all that time into the 2-5 guys in just 29km. Some of that goes to the TTT he rode with Asgreen and one other guy, for which no one was penalized (probably correctly), but the rest of it stinks in my opinion.

And that was a shorter course. What exactly are you insinuating?

I don't see it. Roglic has always been one of the better hilly time trialists since he came on the scene. This is really, IMO, a perfect match of rider and course. Looking at time splits, all the big guy specialists were even with him through the first half or so and then fell off while his second lap wasn't faster, just consistent. Which is exactly what I would expect to happen to Kung, Ganna, Asgreen, etc. Dumoulin is the next best climber out of those specialists, so good he's really a GC guy but he's always been better at long consistent gradients, so it's not surprising to me that he was better than the huge guys but not as good as Roglic who's always been better than TD on steep and undulating gradients.

So he wasn't doped on Saturday but was yesterday? Some kind of Floyd thing?

Is van Vleuten doping?
