Getting that bike part that you gave up hope for.

What a feeling.

Back story:

I bought my BH Lynx last year NOS from eBay. It is a 2014/2015 model that comes with the rear shock and the Fox 3 position remote that can control both front and rear shock at the same time. I also got a TA fork from the classifieds here and it happens to be the same year as the rear so the remote is compatible. All I am missing is the remote top cap conversion kit, specifically part number 820-05-272-KIT.

Except I couldn't find the part anywhere, from Fox, asked here, and called all the bike shops that have it listed online (no luck and they are all out of stock) and Fox doesn't make it anymore. Fox told me the only option is to upgrade the damper to one where current version top cap is compatible.

I even felt for a scammer website for it

From time to time I will google the part and see if it shows up but last week hit the jackpot. It was listed on Ebay from a bike shop. Immediately bought it and waiting for delivery.

In the end, it is really a small thing and definitely a first world problem. But it felt so good to finally being able to get it.

you know the little plastic thingy with two channels for gear cables. went to 4 bike shops yesterday and none had the guide. came home, looked in my parts box...again and there was a brand new one just sitting there.

I would think that this part is more standard... hopefully internal routing doesn't make this obsolete.

Well I probably jinxed it by posting this prematurely.

I haven't received it and contacted the vendor. The courier "lost" it and they can't get another one from Fox.

Oh well, probably will never find one.

Yea. We all chipped in and bought one for you. Can't say who actually put the part in your box...we are sworn to secrecy.

For me, it was tracking down an NOS C-Record crankset in 167.5.

There was also a thread in the classifieds a while back in regards to Chris King Ti stemcaps. Also hard to find and not in production anymore.

I mean, some bike shop somewhere must have it sitting in a parts bin, except that they don't have an online store front to sell stuff.
