Riveting a Campy chain

The Campagnolo literature says you should not open a chain more than two times. Do they mean two times on the same rivet or two times total for the entire chain?

if i break open the chain at link 2 (assuming I joined the chain at link 1), and I replace the rivet at link 2 to reuse the chain again; this is OK?
But if I need to open the chain again, the chain is done?

Don't puch a pin(rivet) out and install the pin at that same plate. The pin and plates are designed to get a pin inserted once in any outer plate.

Best thing to do is install pin on new chain..on 'virgin' plate..then when ya take it off to clean..use a snap link..I use KMC,

The first time you install the chain, aren't you pushing out an existing pin to shorten the chain and then installing the joining pin. If that process is good for one pin, shouldn't it be good for more pins?

New Campy chains are shortened on a specific end, so that the new pin goes into virgin outer plates.

Yes, but not out of an outer plate, then pushing the pin into that now deformed outer plate. What tomatoe coup above said..
