Rohloff service in Chicago area?
Anyone out there in forumland know of a shop in the Chicago area that works with Rohloff hubs?
I'm considering buying a bike with a Speedhub and just wanted some service options. Thanks!!! |

All I recall for service centers in the US are Cycle Monkey in California and Peter White Cycle in New Hampshire. Just poking around a bit, Cycle Monkey website doesn't look active anymore. One the other hand I was at Peter White Cycles about 1 1/2 years ago. They're a little quirky but they are responsive, know the Speedhubs inside and out and were able to get all the parts I needed to convert an older Speedhub to disk brake and build up a rock solid wheel.
That said, the Speedhubs are pretty bombproof. You can easily order cogs, chainrings, belts, oil kits off the net and change them yourself with minimal effort. If you need to talk to an excellent Rohloff dealer, contact Davis at Bath Cycle and Ski in Maine. |

I have it on good authority that Green Machine Cycles on Montrose is very Rohloff-savvy. We should ride our bikes over there and check it out.

I guess less so for service of the hub but more so for the setting up proper operation and running new cables. Definitely don't need another bike but I'd like to give it a try!
And thanks for the recommendation, Christian. We should go check them out! |

In other words, you've got guys. 😉 Currently traveling between Rome and Florence or I'd consider joining you, just to check out new-to-me bike shops.
Peter White is definitely still in business. I recently bought some TA chainrings from him which are installed on the bike riding with me.
