Conspicuous for whom he omitted.
Probably would be world beating in the noughts, but the lac of width might get them these days. Also, which Ronaldo? |

Apropos of nothing, other than wanting to get it on the record . . .
Arsenal should rebuild with Tuchel. I've always thought he was the right man for that job, but Wenger's dithering and the club's reluctance to act meant he had committed to PSG before the job opened up.

Tuchel had a reputation in Dortmund lacking in people skills, but he navigated the shark infested waters at PSG with an all-powerful sporting director who didn't like him and an ensemble of divas remarkably well for longer than I had thought, and PSG played some sexy football last season as well. He is the ultimate football and tactics nerd as well, on eye level with Pep. I think he would be a good fit at Arsenal.

An American scores in the Serie A for Juve against Milan. I know it really shouldnt be that big of a deal, but could one imagine saying something like that three years ago?
That Serie A title race sure is hotting up. Milan really needs the Zlatan. |

I really like McKennie. My favorite US player. I wish Arsenal had gone for him in the summer. He covers so much ground, plays defense as well as smart attacking play.

He’d get wasted on the Arsenal bench, only to be loaned out to some Ligue Un bottom feeders in an year (a la Guendozi).

No way, he would have pushed Xhaka and or Elneny to the bench easily.

So apparently, an American teenager bagged a hat trick in the Bundesliga, and I had no idea who the hell he was. My ignorance is excusable, as said teenager plays on a god-awful Schalke team, but the U.S.A. soccer apparently is just as oblivious, as the teenager hasn't been capped by the U.S. at any level yet. Actually find that hard to believe.
Well, he now will be getting capped, one would think. Those goals were quite tasty, too, so much so that Frito-Lay should ask him for the secret ingredients to his delightfully insouciant chips (yes, that's correct, two of his goals were chips, one of them a long-ranger). Then again, one would expect this level of technique from someone who spent formative years at La Masia. Josh Sargent better watch out, as he no longer has a stranglehold on the starting striker spot. |
