OT - anyone wanna sail?

just throwing lines out all over the place, figured id post up here too, cuz yall are a generally above-the-standard pool o dudes n (at least a couple?) chicks.

i bought a Cal29 in --- and need to get her down to --- for some refit. as of now ill be single-handing her, which is fine, but at 430 nautis and an estimated average SoL o' 4kts, thats almost 4 days of only being able to sleep for 45 minutes at a time, so id rather get a couple more warm bodies on board for watch. no sailing experience required, just be able to stay awake for your 4-hour watch.

transportation to or from --- can be provided, if youre local to either port (--- or --- or nearby). food, booze, and weed all included in your purchase price of $0 for this cruise

passage will be some time between now and like 45ish days from now - trying to find a short term moorage for her up here (she has to be out of her current slip by the 24th o june) to give me more time to do some upgrades and familiarize myself with her, but looks like everywhere in the neighborhood is all filled up. so might be pushing off like this coming week, forecast depending.

we aint sailing the --- or crossing the --- bar in ****tay weather, so if a solid forecast isnt materializing ill probably end up anchoring her somewhere n waiting

PM for deets if interested

That sounds like a lot of fun. I helped a mate sail his Alden yawl from Alameda down to Monterey way back when but alas, I'm on the wrong coast and my time for the next couple of months is not all my own.

Good luck with the recruiting!

Louis pal is cautious, logical and methodical.

Someone with his attitude and personality will keep half our human population safe at home...while holding back the other half from exploring a brave new world.

That's why we should be grateful to have folks like Louis around but even more thankful that not everybody is like Louis.

If we did not get a pup recently, I may have been up for this. Turns out to be the exact amount of time before my eye snap shut.

This is awesome! Unfortunately it's only a 29'. If it was a 30 I would be all over it. Good luck with your sail though!

Seriously though, If I had a little more free time right now I would consider it. Anacotes is only a hop, skip, and jump away.

This is cool, man! Wish I could join and learn a little bit. I went out sailing with a friend of a friend last time I was in Seattle and really enjoyed the experience.

For like $150K, you can get a decently large ocean going sailing yacht and leave the world behind. Compared to flying, it seems like a bargain!

Best of luck in your voyage and future adventures.

Only here would you get an offer for something as cool as this! Sadly, Iā€™m not available or experienced enough to help out. I am curious if this adds to a persons certification? I know my dad went for his license and helped deliver a boat from nyc to Bermuda once to gain hours. Iā€™ve only been on a few bareboat charters myself, and only as a mate.

I would think with college out for summer it wouldnā€™t be too hard to find someone willing to help out and best of luck!
