Shimano Dura-Ace 12 Speed.

Could not find the old threads about this. So when is this going to happen?

Most are guessing at this year's Tour de France. Based on the normal release cycles for Shimano component groups, a new Dura-Ace group would have been released at last year's Tour de France (i.e, last July). But given the uncertainties, delays and supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic, many people believe that the introduction was delayed until this year.

As an added factor, this year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of The Shimano company. Shimano will certainly release something to commemorate this milestone, so if not a new Dura-Ace group, then what?

Shimano has already missed the boat, SRAM released rival axs etap a few weeks back. Wondering about plain old 105 di2 11 speed and better functionality between road and mtb parts

This is basically the answer that ends the thread.

I've heard the disc brake solution that's coming with dura ace is groundbreaking. But that was just chit chat so make of it what you will.

What problem is this solution supposed to solve?

don't you know, previous bikes will suddenly not work any longer.

Perhaps Shimano will begin charging monthly fees for your braking to continue.

Grain of salt here, but it had been touted there was an increase in pad clearance. There may be other things too, but it was put to me that most of the improvements were in the braking and then pad clearance cited as prime as I had noted that road disc pad clearance is an obstacle for me using road disc.

(If you don't think pad clearance is an issue on road disc then lets agree to disagree and leave it at that)

Would be cool to see an improvement here. Road systems are poor on this metric compared to mtb systems, at least in my experience.

their rival etap costs the same as a Ultegra di2 group and heavier, maybe because it's newly released. Hopefully the price can come down a little bit.

Way fewer pieces to buy No etubes (6), junction boxes (2) or battery. That runs the price up, I think the shimano runs a fair bit more when you add all that in. Plus...way fewer pieces to backorder and that's saying something these days. Shimano is sold out until August of 2027

Bought a set of shifters/calipers and a gx rear derailleur for my garvel bike. All I needed. Thought it kinda cheap...won't all be here until end of summer or something. Don't care about the weight, it's gonna get real dirty
