I was naively hoping they would stick to 11 speed for the price-entry level...

Would have seriously thought about trying it out then but just don't feel like changing all stuff (again) to be compatible with 12 speed...

That's mullet land. 10-50 cassette doesn't change much since the 11-42's just traded the 10 for an 11, and the AXS stuff adds the 12.

I'm really intrigued by this, but my inner weight weenie just makes me want to buy Red because its 1.5lbs lighter!
Last time I tried going to even Force22, the bike ended up with Red22 and from 17.7 to 15.2 with some other changes.

I will say Rival makes Force AXS MUCH less attractive given the weight difference is minor and can mostly be made up with the carbon Force crank.

I'm using the force axs levers with juin-tech gt 4 piston hydraulic calipers and Campy rotors. So far they work very well, so I'll stick with this setup until I have a caliper problem. After that, the rival change for $400 per bike would be my choice, too.

Very cool. Sram is killing it. Good for them.

Yes. I did a mullet with Force AXS and an Eagle XX-1 rear derailleur. 44 x 50-10. It works great!

Another mullet bike here with Force AXS and XX1. However, I'm running a 12s XTR rear cassette, 10-45. I like the tighter spacing and that's plenty of range. With a 44t or 46t chainring, that's about pretty much the equivalent of a 50/34 with an 11-34 cassette, without overlapping gears.

Was thinking about running this exact same setup pretty soon, seems like the best of all worlds for 1x gearing since it almost exactly mimics a 50/34 with 11-32 cassette. Also with the newer Shimano 12s mtb stuff being amazing at shifting under power it could make an even smoother experience than any other AXS setup.

I just noticed that Specialized and Trek are both listing new model road bikes with Rival AXS drivetrains. They didn't waste any time.

I'm a 2x guy and really like my GRX 46x30 crankset for gravel riding. I wonder if the Rival FD will handle the wider stance of the GRX crankset.

Speedvagen is releasing their 2021 disc OG and GTFO with rival axs only. seems like they already have 11 groupsets, but only 11 and no predictions as to when they'll get more.

I was concerned about spacing too initially. I remember using straight blocks in my early racing days. But those were before index shifting. Maybe on a road bike it would be more noticeable, but on a gravel bike, it hasn’t been an issue at all.

When I was deciding on a build, I found the charts on this page helpful: https://lindarets.com/blogs/blog/gra...nges-and-speed. In particular, the black and orange chart with the gearing “steps” toward the bottom was informative.

Guessing no but who knows? Is the spacing between the rings on the sram AXS crankset and GRX the same?

There are standard and wide versions of the FD. The wide will work with the grx for sure. I was barely able to make the standard FD work. I eliminate the +2.5mm chainline with spacing washers on my road bikes. I've now used three grx cranks on my road bikes - two 46/30 and a 48/31.
