It is Cromor, maybe not super high end VS way high end, but most 4130 are fine tubeset. That is weled/seamed, but I doubt that has little to do with anything beyond weigh and cost.

Merckx used Thron OS a lot for those 90s Corsa I believe, I know as I have one. Kind of a less expensive lighter MAX tube-set in my fundamental knowledge of tubes.

All my steel experience shows minor differences in feel, and no doubt the building technique has a lot more to do with how one performs/feels over another. Just better/best is lighter for same purpose, but will also feel a bit more lively.

I have an old Kobe 2120 Hi Tensile frame that feel/planes and rides performs fantastic. Does the frameset weigh 7.9 lb with the steel headset, you bet.

You showed the frames:
Strada 87 Cromor
Professional 85 SL
Corsa Extra 93 SLX
Pro 84 753
Strada is the lowest model in the EMC hierarchy - Cromor tubing, then Cromor/Gara, finally Brain OS and cheaper frame components.
The build quality was identical for all EMC models i.e. high.
By the way: Corsa Thron was produced very shortly in 1994.

Hierarchy at the end of 1994:
- Mx Leader
- Arcobaleno (new)
- Corsa Extra
- Corsa Thron -> Corsa 01
- Corsa (production shutdown)
- Strada OS (new)
- Strada
Corsa Thron was built with tubes "left over" from the production of the Trekking model, confirmed period is the second half of 1994.
Thron was replaced by Dedacciai 01 tubes - then Corsa 01 model was created.
The Corsa Thron model is rare - probably only a few hundred were produced.

Regardless of heirarchy, they are all excellent.

When I was riding my two Merckx, I preferred my Strada OS over my MXL if that means anything.
