Magura MT8 Sl calipers and XTR race brake calipers.

For the sake of memorializing this I am posting this hair brained hack. I bought a pair of Magura MT8 sl’s for my Scott Spark. I soon learned that the Magura caliper is too wide to fit the Scott’s rear brake space. So instead of giving up I took dremel to the caliper to shave it down which ended up in me shaving it too far down. So next I got an XTR race brake Caliper, attached with a shimano hose to the Magura lever, bleed it and it works like a charm. So if anyone wants to know this configuration works.... thus far.

Interesting. I know "Shimagura" is a thing that is discussed in dark corners of the internet ... though usually it's Shimano levers with Magura caliper, not the other way around.

Yes bc conventional wisdom is Shimano levers are better and Magura calipers are better. I have no opinion on this.

I am more impressed with Shimano levers and Magura calipers. But if it works for the OP, fine.

Yeah this is what I hear and why I was concern doing it. Since I already had the Magura levers it was more economical going my route. But I really do
Like the feel of the MT8 levers.

Like the feel of the MT8 levers.

I built bikes with the 4 piston Magura calipers. Those things could stop a fast moped. One finger levers are too much. If you panic and jam them hard, you're in big trouble. With one finger. With small rotors.
