My local wheel builder friend fixes Campy wheels with steel spokes all the time. She takes spokes she keeps in stock, and cuts and threads them at whatever lengths she needs to temporarily get you back on the road until she orders the Campy spokes....if they are available. She can't temporarily fix aluminum spoke wheels though, so she keeps a few in stock, and orders as needed. Of course....this same lady builds wheels for hi wheel bikes (she builds complete hi wheelers), wheel chairs, motor cycle wheels, etc. So she is better set up than most wheel builders in a bike shop. In most metro areas there is usually someone around like this.
