Tear in saddle cover: repair options?

My Prologo saddle, less than a year old, has a tear in the cover. Not sure how, but I see Loctite make a vinyl repair cement. JB Weld as well. Anyone have a recommended fix? Its nicely broken in. You would think for a $160+ saddle it would be leather. Hahah, Im so naive!

It’s best to get some fabric underneath that spot, then glue your flap and the underside of the surrounding area to the cloth, then patch the vinyl. I have used the JB Weld kit on a car seat with good effect. If you want a great repair, go to your local upholstery or car restoration shop and find out who does their repairs and have them do it.

Add nothing but adhesive.

Contact cement (if you know how to use it) or Shoe Goo.

Mask tight to the tear. Apply with a cotton swab/toothpick/popsicle stick. Wipe away excess. Tape down until set with blue tape if using Shoe Goo.

I've used tenacious tape many times to repair tears in ski jackets/pants and other outdoor equipment. It's really great but all of those repairs are on the exterior of equipment and while they get heavy use, not quite the constant use as a saddle.

oh, I thought of that, but no way to prove I did not “poke” it with something. I *carefully* load it into my full-size pickup if I go anywhere. And I always wear cycling shorts, so no screwdriver in my back pocket!

I actually took the pic to send to Prologo, I guess I could try....how could this even happen?

oh, sh*t, this could be on me!
i drove over to my daughters and brought my bike. i may have unloaded my bike with my keys in my right hand!
it *looks* like a puncture, so this is totally a possible explanation.
i was literally emailing Prologo and thinking “how could this even happen?”
soooo, “ShoeGoo” or there is a boat & car cushion repair around the corner, but looks are not super important to me.
Thanks y’all!

to your credit, i would also think a saddle cover should be tough enough to handle some light contact with a key...

If it were mine I'd just probably use the Loctite gel glue I seem to use on everything.

Often a manufacturer is selling "customer service" and just trying to ensure you stay happy with their product.

Yes, that may be. But its nice and broken in! I think the Loctite stuff will work fine.

Pretty certain i did it...was about to grab under the top tube, by the seat tube, and thought “no, i will scratch the paint with my keys.”
