Gianni Motta - Quick Winter Photoshoot

Did a quick photoshoot of the Motta this morning. Built up with Campagnolo 8-speed and using modern Chorus/Velocity wheels. This was a NOS find from overseas. Finished recently and now just waiting for spring to get here so I can test it out. NOS frame found overseas while looking for one of the U.S. Flag paint scheme ones.

Is this group the first of ergopower shifters?

As always, the build is immaculate and the photos are first rate.
That looks like a mega setback post. Is there something about this frame that triggers that? Or is it just an optical illusion?

That's my understanding from the comments on the for sale post I got these from and then further research.

It's a long setback seatpost. I'm only 5'8" but have a 33" bike inseam along with bad knees. So for pain free cycling I have all the centerlines of my saddles set up as 8 3/8" from the center of the BB.

Finally have an appointment with the VA this month about knee replacements. Curious to see if the new knees wind up changing my fit specs down the road.

Beautiful frameset, I like the silvery path you took with the build. I wish I'd hung on to my original Record 8 group, only still have the crank and deltas.

Are those Shimano downtube adjusters? No Campy ones in your stash?

No Campagnolo one's in the stash and for the price most folks want for them I don't bother with 'em. This is an item I really don't worry about other than do I want silver or black.

Looks great. I was always somewhat taken by the American flag editions back in the day although I’d sooner go Italian flag version nowadays.

A Google image search for Gianni Motta bicycles shows it was almost no two the same with dozens of outstanding different colour schemes including a Belgian flag variant I hadn’t seen before…

Looks great James and confident it will be a solid ride when you get a chance to take it out. The parallel seat stays are art on these frames.

Marc, can you expand on this? What do you mean by parallel stays in this case? Thanks.

Beautiful build and pics. Curious which cassette/spacer kit is that? I need to adapt a similar 10s gen hub for 8s campag use as well.
