Save $$$$!

from the Onion. WASHINGTON—In an effort to reduce wasteful spending and eliminate non-vital federal services, the U.S. government announced plans this week to cut its long-standing senator program, a move it says will help save more than $300 billion each year.According to officials, the decision to cut the national legislative body was reached during a budget review meeting on Tuesday. After hours of deliberation, it was agreed that the cost of financing U.S. senators far outweighed the benefits they provided."Now more than ever, we must eliminate needless spending wherever possible," President Obama said at a press conference Wednesday. "When we sat down to go over our annual budget, we asked ourselves, where can we safely trim back? What programs can we do away with without negatively impacting the American people? Which bloated and ineffective institutions can we no longer justify having around?" .....theonion dot com

Talking about bikes on the Serotta Forum is kinda like what the Prez said about HCR - everything that can be said HAS been said and pretty much everyone has said it, so if it's gonna be bikes only, I expect I'll be drifting away as well. I've been hanging around for the OT stuff and was happy enough to answer/discuss the occasional bike question that wasn't "what's better, Serotta or Seven?". But that's not enough to keep hanging around for. The great analogy was comparing this place to an electronic group ride, where friends brought together by riding talked about whatever, flipped each other plenty of good natured ****, etc. I'd never go on a ride with people that could only talk about bikes.

Seems to be in transition now and that's fine - things change. But if the other side feels as heavy handed as the past couple of weeks, I have other places to spend time.

It's been fun and informative, though. Hopefully, it will be again.

Don't ban "The Onion". It is as American as apple pie and Serottas.

Of course....And, it can be read here: http://www.theonion.com/

Please tell me what this has to do with the Serotta Forum?

This was not a personal attack on any one individual, just a polite nudge that we are trying to stay away from political threads.

And yes, the OT section is going away. I am not 100% sure I agree with that, but it is what Pete and company has decided and I will go along with their decision.

But, if the threads keeping going by the way of political (and they appear to be), then I can see why they are closing this section.

Thank you,

Steve

I tried to come up with 6 degrees of separation between the Serotta Forum and The Onion but I am not smart enough. However this outcome surprised me. I'm not sure I agree with it.

I find political satire especially like this when it covers both side of the aisle very acceptable unless someone starts a snowball fight over it.

hmmm........i like the OT section of this forum. it allows a community of very bright folks that share to a passion for cycling/bikes to also share their thoughts on many other topics without having to travel to another playground.
it allows us all to get to know each other a little better and may even bring us closer together as a community.
