I bought a couple of things when I went to nahbs this year. A silca multi tool and a $#it load of King ti cages. Almost all my bikes have King cages and I don't see myself switching anytime soon. The silca cages look nice though.

There is so much negativity on the forum these days and I don’t get it.

Premium products exist and the market will decide if they are viable or not. Personally I dig what Silca is doing. Not all of their products are necessarily for me; but let’s remember they are a small business trying to carve out a way and doing things their way, and are cycling enthusiasts. No need to throw stones at the good guys IMO.

I recommend in reverse order

For me King Cage is kinda a sacred space. Love the idea that some guy in his garage decided to make really good waterbottle cages. he has been able to do it over so many years. I wanted a King Cage on my bike when I was 19 and I want one on my bike at 46. Other than a CK headset no other component I can say that (Kooka cranks didnt make the cut).

Silca is awesome. Awesome products, awesome owners, awesome CC, awesome for cycling. I just like my ti cages from Ron. It's personal.

Exactly.

There is King, there are/have been a few others. I guess I just don't see the additional need (other than profit) for Silca in that particular market, and would prefer that their new products continue the legacy/identity they established and seem keen to maintain.

But, yes, in the interest of a cage-free world more power to them I guess. However, if they're going to charge more than King, with "new-to-cycling laser welded manufacturing process" (whatever that means), then thanks.

I wasn't even aware they had titanium cages, and they're not as nice as my Irises!

Yep. Garage is in Durango, Colorado. ‘Bout the only form of world-class riding not found there is pista which, significantly, needs no bottle cages. Lovin’ King slags no other manufacturer. I love ‘em. I rock ‘em.

I certainly won't be replacing any of my King cages with the new Silca ones regardless of price. If they are priced competitively with the King cages I will probably pick up a set to put on my CSI to go with the Silca tool roll and pump on that bike. It currently has some cheap plastic cages that work but will eventually get upgraded / replaced.

Yes. You're going to have to choose between John Denver and John Mellencamp.

Guess my comment came off negative...I should have ended it with a smiley face...

I LOVE what these guys are doing, just thought the guess on price wasn't in line with their other products...

I hope they kill it with their new ti cages! Thinking we need a Zanconato/Silca cage deal kind of like Sachs and the mini tool kit.... just saying!

Silca's T-Ratchet kit is less the Spurcycle one in the other thread...there's a chance the new Ti cages could be less than the Kings!

These new cages look great. The King cages are great. They're both MUSA, for those who care. It's nice to have options.

I have King cages on both my bikes, one set Ti and the other steel. Never lost a bottle and I like the old school look. As for the Silca ones, I just appreciate the fact that something non-carbon is being introduced!
