Our family is scaling way down and moving into a 2 bedroom. The one place where I can store my bike without the kids knocking it over or spray painting it is next to the washer and drier, or hanging it next to my clothes in the closet. My heart breaks to think that is where my beautiful Ti 333FAB has to reside. My 4 other beautiful bikes have to go into storage (2 Zanks, Time Edge, DeRosa...). Why do bikes take up so much fricking space?

Heh.. I kind of agree.

I said I have 3 bikes. I have a carbon road bike, a steel fat tire gravel/touring bike, and an aluminum F/S MTB. They are all pretty different and have different strengths/uses. The steel bike has fenders and I have studded tires for the steel bike + MTB.

The ones I don't get are having 8 steel road "race" bikes that all wear 23c tires or something like that and all have the same contact points. No fenders or baggage capabilities, etc..

I know there's a lot of searching for the "ultimate ride" and such here but it's all a little crazy to me.

Here ya go: https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=204537 .

There are some great suggestions in the thread above. The solution that I ended up putting together are in posts #48 and 52. I've been very happy with it. The only thing that I would suggest are larger hooks for the mountain bike tires.

Have fun!

Here's my relatively easy DYI storage setup in my basement. The photo is a bit out of date since I am now N-1. The 2000 Axis and the '98 FSR have been donated to youngsters and were replaced by a new Fuji Cross bike with disc brakes for winter riding.

I overpaid for it a few years ago. Cost me $10K. Crazy money.

These are the Velosport hangers--work pretty good, but I think I will add something with a rough texture to the plate so they don't tend to slip as much.

They let you turn them into the wall, so perfect for an alcove like I have...
I installed the same system couple of weeks ago for 4 of them.
Im very pleased with that system for limited space as in my flat / studio.

Did you tripple or quadruple your investment on that overpayment?

They are not all 23c. Also have 21c, 26c & 30c. Need to have options in the steel bike category.

So far I have only broken even...I sold the original (non-matching) engine for $10K and now have a fresh 270HP Twin-plug 2.7S with E cams and MFI stuffed in there.

Sorry for thread drift and now back to storing bikes.

I'm back down to 14. Till you get over 10, you don't have a problem.

At least IMO
