Spurcycle Tool via Moots

https://moots.myshopify.com/products/spurcycle-tool

I love well-designed things.

Just be sure to calibrate your internal torque wrench..

I don't think it's Moots branded in any way. just being re-sold by them because they like it.

it is very cool though!

How Nice! The bike in the pix looks like the exact color of our Hampsten Strada Bianca that MOOTS built.

Here's another similar tool, though without the slide.

Nice enough, but I don't really see any advantages over the PB Swiss PB 470 - Bike Tool ($50) or the Silca T-Ratchet ($50), especially at $20 more than either of those.

I own mineral, the spur and the PB swiss. The spur is nicest fb the mineral fb the PBswiss. I think some would like the mineral over the spur but I think most would think the spur is the nicest.

Perhaps so. I own the PB and the Silca and find them completely adequate. I admit that I factor the additional $20 into the equation and at that point really don't see the added value.

But, I have never tried the Mineral (looks clunky to me) or the Spurcycle (looks nicer). In any case, I would guess they all do the job very well. These tiny tools sure get fetishized a lot, it seems.

It's great seeing Spur get some recognition from Moots. I have some Spur bells and they're excellent. The Spur guys are in SF and I think that little pouch is also made by a small one-man SF bag company. If they could find someway to integrate a chain breaker, I'd could see myself getting one.

Don't really see the usefulness of all these mini tools with limited application unless you are going to carry a saddle bag full of them or you are servicing a traveling cycling team.

However I did break a chain yesterday for the first time in memory after some 55 years and was glad I had my CrankBros M17 tool including chain breaker with me. Saved me from who knows how long of a walk, still think it is the best mini tool worth carrying made at a third of the cost.

The mineral group mentioned above has a nifty bar plug chain tool. That’s what I use.

I like that chain tool.

Was looking at the Specialized steerer one the other day, but this is a much better placement for me.

You can get the Swiss Tool for $32.59 shipped:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BFO2AF8

It is compact and well built. That said, I like the Spurcycle design and it also includes an 8mm bit.

That's a good deal, and extra PB bits are less than $3.50 from Tool Lady.
