Has it always been in Westport? I've never done it, is it a good ride?

Yes, always in Westport.
Many, many years ago (when it was a smaller ride) they started at the Westport RR Station.
Start is at Sherwood Island.

Its a great ride (I sign-up every year, but I bail if it's raining. Just signed up today)
I wish they had a rain date, but it's a rain-or-shine ride.
As it's a metric century (with shorter routes available), its an easy ride for experienced cyclists.
They do get about 2,000 riders, so it's a bit crowded, but since I know the area, I usually start late to avoid the crowded start.
A few years ago, they had to close registration as they had too many riders, but since have raised the fee and haven't sold out the last 3 years.

Last years routes are posted here: http://www.bloominmetric.com and there are usually just minor changes annually.

This is last years 62 miler (the metric century)

I have heard great things about this ride. I'm looking forward to making it up there this year as well

They had some good after-ride food trucks last year.

I've done it 3 of the last 4 years. It's a great ride. Last year they did a food truck thing where you get a voucher for one meal from a food truck of your choice after the ride. They said they'll be doing that again this year. I always ride with the Signature Cycles group--mellow and safe, inclusive bunch.

I just signed up.
