OT: 1st IndyCar series race of 2021 at Barber
I think this year must have the most driver talent of any year in history.
O'Ward grabbed the pole for McLaren, but Ganassi looks really strong with their drivers qualified third, fifth, and sixth. Rossi is starting 2nd for Andretti, and Power fourth for Penske. Romain Grosjean had a great day, was consistently near the top of the time sheets and ended up 7th on the grid for Dale Coyne. Race will be broadcast on NBC starting at 2 PM Central Time. All you need is rabbit ears for most of the USA. Please watch if you have time. Qualifying results: https://racer.com/wp-content/uploads...ts-quals-1.pdf |

watch the two Kiwi Scotts. Scott Dixon and Scott Mclaughlin.
The latter a rookie will fast make his presence know and the former is closely walking in A.J Foyt’s foot steps. |

Romain had a great performance - fast off the truck with a smaller team. O ward looks like the deal though.

Mclaughlin did a great job, is starting 12th. Grosjean was 2nd quickest in the morning warm up to Graham Rahal, who is going to have a tough time starting 18th. Just goes to show the depth of the field and how critical getting the setup right is.
Coverage is live now at 3 PM Eastern. |

Jimmy Johnson drove through the 1st lap accident like veteran so I'm pushing for him to finish his goal of doing all 90 laps

Commercials wreck this coverage. How do fans get into a race when they cutaway to Reggie Jackson every 6 minutes?
Is there another commercial free option? |

I keep the live timing and scoring and IndyCar radio running on the computer (racecontrol.indycar.com - hit the play button near the top of the page for the audio). When they cut to commercial I hit the mute button on the TV and listen to the radio broadcast. Even though it seems the radio commercials often coincide with the ones on TV, I still keep better track of what's going on. NBC offers live streaming on their Peacock app for $5/month. Pretty sure that the practice and qualifying sessions run without commercials but not sure about race coverage. I may give it a try at some point.
Nice job by the Ganassi team to bring Palou, Dixon, and Ericsson home first, third, and eighth. Great drives through most of the field by Bourdais and Rahal to finish fifth and seventh. I know Rahal was the last of the running cars after the first lap crash. |
