Deda Superleggero for steel bikes. That’s about the smallest diameter production stem I know of. It matches well with the skinny tubes of a steel frame.

I’m a sucker for the Thomson stems, they look very good on most bikes.

My favorite is the Deda Elementi SL. The strut tube is a bit smaller than most and it looks especially good when used on steel bikes....even better when painted to match.

Agreed- I currently have the Deda SL on my Kirk and it looks great.

Another stem which I don’t have but looks very clean and stealthy is the S-Works SL.

To each their own and not quite matt black but I've never been let down by a Nitto product. Outstanding quality and finish. Form follows function.

I'm guessing you're after matt black stem to match a similarly-finished carbon fork, which would be a good aesthetic strategy when frame and fork finishes differ. Posting a photo of both may help refine the suggestions coming in...

Although I really like the Zipp SL Speed stem. Right amount of light and braun....

Zipp SL Speed stem is up there with the Enve. Both have a smooth organic sexy shape.

Deda Elementi "SL" = "Superleggero", still very current, available in both standard ("Superleggero") and light-weight ("Superleggero RS").
They are beautiful stems, especially with some black titanium bolts from Toronto Cycles.
