As I understand it, there are unofficial rules about taking pics of your bikes. Cranks at a certain angle, tires logos/valve stems at the same position, drive side facing, etc. (They're strict and I always get them wrong.)

So where does the bike laying flat on the ground aesthetic fit? Is that a decidedly against-the-rules thing? If so, are there purposely contradictory rules that one must follow to get the perfect bike laying on the ground photo?

Not down on the drive side, not upside down and not lifted above your head.

Bike on the ground makes the picture less about the bike but still includes the bike
