That being said, there is plenty of space all around either way you look at the seat tube, so either Shimano or Campagnolo would fit right now,
I think you’re miss understanding what seat post that frame requires. The seat post should be the same shape of the seat tube, or have some sort of similar shaped adapter to secure the seat post.

I do understand that ideally the seat tube would be a perfect fit around the seatpost, but with these aero frames I'm not sure how tight of a fit that should be.

A Campy post 30mmx16mm would be a loose fit, very similar to how the current post fits. That said, possibly there's a different post out there that would actually fit, no little metal wedge needed. I'll do some searching to see if anyone made one larger.

I appreciate the tip, the AX seatposts came with a grommet to go around the post and frame, which lead me to think that maybe there was already gaps around the post by design. I'd like to see one of the Lotus/Tsunoda Aero frames with the post installed but the grommet off to see what those gaps are (if any)

Looking at what the Shimano catalog says for AX, I think this probably does have the wrong post installed, I'd say probably an E Type, SP-7322 at 29mm x 18.5mm, whereas it actually requires a SP-7320 C Type, which has more of a teardrop shape.. measurements supposed to be 34.1mm x 18mm.

As if the aero seatposts weren't rare enough, they made them in different sizes so the search is going to be even more difficult.

@velomateo Thanks for the suggestion, it makes sense that they would have gone and modified considering how hard it is to just find one of these aero posts, and all they want to do is ride, so grab the first post that fits somewhat and make it go.

Funny, since it's semi-local I posted it up in the barn Finds thread before I saw this thread.

When I look them, the details between this frame & the Aero Pursuit I posted don't seem to match up very well.

Could it just be a random frame with a Serotta fork & stickers thrown on?

OP has not delivered the thorough fork serial number check.

My wife and I were very busy today, but I will get it checked out this weekend, promise.

I did see that seatpost for sale too.. I think that is the same one I have in the bike right now, but mine isn't in as nice of condition. I think I need the one that is a little longer.

Not sure how promising the outlook is on me getting this thing back on the road. I mean, I can ride it right now, but I don't want to keep riding it with the wrong seatpost and if I go any further here I'm going to need to shift.

Thanks for the interest so far, hopefully you all are enjoying this process like I am.

Fork steerer tube pictures

Got the fork back off again this evening. See the pictures, I know they aren't the best, however I think they get the job done. I can’t make out any kind of consistent serial number. Maybe some of your eyes are better?

Definitely has the Columbus stamp though, which I had not seen due to grease in the first look.

And attached photos for posterity.

My first reaction was that it was a respray and decal job on a Lotus or something, but the seat cluster is completely different than anything else out there.

Fork being Serotta is true it would seem, since it matches the styling of others and has the engravings. But also... it doesn't have a serial number, which David Kirk said that it was very unlikely Serotta would manufacture one without..

The front and rear dropouts are both Shimano, which I think counts towards the matching frame/fork argument. I don't see any other evidence of a paint color besides Purple either. It's not impossible someone did a respray and got rid of all evidence of the old color, but I just don't think that's realistic.

It's almost as if it would have been harder for someone to make this into a fake Serotta than the possibility of this just being a one off go at a Shimano AX bike. Serotta and the team definitely had the skill to make this, I just have no way of verifying it with my knowledge and no serial number.
