JPow is Retiring
Four time National Champion Jeremy Powers just announced his retirement from 'cross racing.
Basically his career spanned the "boom" in 'cross racing and became it's victim. It's time. Seemed like a really nice guy.

Yeah he had a good run of it. He was big in getting cx on the map here in the states for sure.

saw him race several times and always thought he was a class act. I don't know him personally, but with in ear shot he was always very gracious with the fans even when his results were not on the top step.
Know he hasn't had the health, fitness and results as of late, but he was a great racer and dedicated. I dig that, would have liked to see him place higher in Europe, but it seems with the exception of Page, that Americans just cannot hang with the top dogs. Although with MVP and Van Aert I don't know who can. MVP is going to become something great(er) then we have seen in a while atmo. |

Wow, I'm kind of surprised by this. I would have thought he had a few more good results left in him. I have meet him at races a couple of times, seemed like a good guy. He was pretty much unstoppable on the US CX scene there for a few years.
Well, good luck to him |

He was a fixture at Paris to Ancaster. Great ambassador for the sport.

Recent health issues probably are part of his decision.
A great run and I’m sure we’ll continue to see him out and about promoting the sport. BK

True gentleman and a great spokesperson for the sport! Luckily over the years I've had the pleasure of meeting him three times, once at an event he won, and twice at Rapha sponsored events. Great guy, here's to wishing him well in "retirement"!

That's a bummer. I've done his ride a few times and it is one of the nicest around. The ride is a benefit the JAM fund:
The JAM Fund was created in 2003 by Jeremy Powers, Alec Donahue and Mukunda Feldman, good friends brought together with a passion for cycling. The JAM Fund helps young, motivated cyclists achieve success both on and off the bike. The ride is a beautiful mixed-terrain ride, followed by great food and beer, and then JPow hands out the grants to all sorts of riders. Watching him during the events, you can see that he just One Great Person. The ride this year is July 13 |

He seems like a great guy, I wish him well. I had a fun interaction with him at a local mid-atlantic cross race a few seasons ago when he was taking a bunch of his cross clinic students around the course on a pre-race lap for coaching. I razzed him about "people being in my way on practice laps..." and gave him a wink and a grin, he returned it in style. Laid back personality for such a talented pro.

Agreed. Can he mimic a decent British accent?
