+1 for vinegar. I presoak jerseys in it, place jerseys and bibs in a mesh bag and wash with similar stuff, cold water, hang to dry.
As a matter of fact when I wash whites I substitute vinegar for bleach. Works great, easy on the planet. |

If I really want to kill the stink, Nikwax Base wash is the ticket. https://www.nikwax.com/en-us/product...?productid=473
WIN detergent is available online at Amazon and sometimes I will buy and use the assos sports wash. If you like halo, I think you will like WIN. https://www.amazon.com/WIN-Sports-De.../dp/B00K0WS2GW Last edited by verticaldoug; 04-17-2019 at 03:02 PM. |

used to wash shorts and jerseys in the shower using shampoo...
now I just throw them in the laundry with other clothes using cold water, non-scented detergent, air dry. have noticed zero difference in longevity of the items. |

I noticed that in the Amazon feedback, the company replied back about using it with silk (no I don't wear silk), but this gives me pause with my expensive bibs: "The active ingredients in WIN will probably degrade silk faster than other detergents that are meant for silk."

I use regular detergent and a small amount of Borax, occasionally. My wife has forbidden me from using either Dr Bronners (which I love otherwise) or vinegar in the washer because she says it makes the machine smell... and I kind of agree with her.

We tend to have a more alkaline ph water so it probably just balances the ph to more neutral. Love Dr. Bonners for dish/hand use, but have not used it for clothes. Pretty expensive if you go by their recommended qty for a clothes wash. Thanks for these replies!

I'm with the guy that jumps in the shower. Been doing it for years too and it works just fine. If I notice dirt around the collar or anywhere else I use regular bath soap on it. The only wear-out I get is from riding...not a machine induced thinning.

Atsko Sport Wash for me - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OPJ5OW/
I don't know about "anti-bacterial" - but the fact it is no residue would imply removing all the stuff that bacteria would eat. |

I just toss it all in the washer and bibs sometimes in dryer with a mild detergent from whoever...Method EcoWash etc. So far so good.
That or I soak it in the sink with same detergent. |

I've had no issues so far and have been doing it for years. Bibs are castelli (who's chamois tends to fall apart anyway after 1-2 yrs), Giordano and Assos, both which last a very long time.

I've been using Nathan Powerwash - don't think it's anti-bacterial though. My stuff comes out clean looking and doesn't smell, works for me.
