Here's the special edition Colnago for the purists

Yesterday Ernesto Colnago celebrated his 87th birthday with close friends and guests in London. He was presented with this gold plated Arabesque, full Super Record, and *threaded stem*

Quote:
Everyone who’s anyone was at Thursday evening’s invite-only birthday party of the great Ernesto Colnago. Held at the Old Royal Navy College in Greenwich, a who’s-who guestlist of friends, admirers and colleagues turned out to pay tribute to the man himself on his 87th birthday.

In terms of gifts, Colnago somewhat broke the bank, presenting Ernesto with a one-of-a-kind, gold plated Colnago 87 – worth an incredible €50,000 Euros. The 24 carat gold Arabesque frame is not dissimilar to the one presented to Pope John Paul II in 2016. Its no expense spared build features a complete heritage Campagnolo Super Record groupset.

Rouleur was in attendance to celebrate the occasion and especially to honour Colnago’s induction into the Cycling Hall of Fame.

Beautiful bicycle

What a stunning bicycle, with quill stem and toe clips.
Thanks for posting.

Me loves non-aero routed cables, DT shifters, toe-clips and straps, and that sweet quill stem mated to a flimsy one-inch threaded steerer forks.

Wow, now that's a bike to be hung on the wall, if there were any.

I'm partial to this one instead of the Gold plated one.

At the birthday celebration, while receiving this bike, EC was asked about which was his personal favorite. After saying he loved them all - of course - he named 4. Three of which I would have guessed: C40 (duh!), Merckx HR, Saronni WC. The 4th choice surprised me: 90s TT bike. Anyone here have one?

This bike is great. It reminds me of something that someone would pass over at a thrift store not realizing what it was. I absolutely love it

^^^ WOWZA. I'd have a hard time getting any work done, if that was hanging in my office.
