Big shock. I always (usually) enjoyed his humor.

bummed to see the news, one of my favorites, very gifted, shouldn't have been fired by SNL when he was probably doing some of his best work.

Norm got fired from what had to be his dream job because he never stopped ripping on OJ, who was a close friend of an SNL producer. Guy was relentless in his pursuit to screw with everyone for laughs.

AV Club has a nice rundown of some his best moments. You know a guy's funny when he gets other comedians to cry laughing

And for the sports inclined, the likes of his ESPYs hosting gig will never be seen again:

I rewatched when he was on Conan with Courtney Thorne-Smith on after and completely stole the show. I think I saw that live on tv and similarly reacted to Conan at the "Bored" joke. It still is as funny as I remember it. What a legend.

IMO he was the best Weekend Update SNL ever had. He was relentless and was always on the edge of your comfort zone.

"If Brian Boitano is such a great ice skater why doesn't he play hockey?"

RIP Norm

Just saw VID bit where Norm sez when you die the cancer dies too, so it is a draw. That seems deeper now. RIP, always liked his gig style...
