Maxxis has just released a new version (Gen 2) of their Highroad tyre.

Not the SL, just the regular Highroad. I have one on order - will mount them to C17 and C19.5 rims and report back, but by specs alone (and even in tread pattern) they look a lot like the GP4000S2's (but with a higher TPI sidewall and a more modern compound)

Thanks,

Pirelli makes the P-Zero in 24mm I believe. Shame that 25 GP5k's are too tall.

Have you tried their nicer road tires? Their MTB tires are awesome but I've never thought of their road tires as on par with other brands' race tires.

I picked up some GP5k's. Hope they are as good as the 4K's.
Wolfpack was on my list but got the 5k's on sale.

Interesting video on the durability of the GP5k TL rubber...

Maxxis road tires are like riding garden hose...
maybe the gen 2 version is better.

Yes. The re-fuse clincher. They're excellent.

I’m liking the Conti 4Season presently. Coming off of 4K and still rolling some 5Ks, the 4Seasons have been impressive. Sticky rubber (way more than Gatorskins), double Vectran belts (won’t stop a staple though), and tougher sidewalls suits my riding on all kinds of potholed pave and occasional gravel well. I believe they were developed for the pros riding Paris Roubaix so… yeah… and pricey. Caveat: Tubed only. I use latex and the ride is very good.

I ran some 40 Refuse tubeless. My takeaway after a bunch of use was surprise how well the float of the 40 was on lose stuff, not squirrelly at all.

But my road use was city paths, and although i never flatted, lots of wet spots from sealed punctures. And too heavy for trying to go fast for me, the 40s that is. I will try smaller size at some point, but my 25-32 stash is ample, so not any time soon to try a smaller refuse.

I replaced them with 30mm Ritchey Alpine JB and like those, but too small to float on real loose for girth.
