"Campagnolo" compatible headset (45 degree)
I'm in the process of putting my GT Team Lotto frame back as close as possible to team spec and still keep it rideable. I've sourced a Time fork with the 1.125 steerer, but it has the integrated carbon crown race, and it's a 45 degree race. I've been told that is the "Campagnolo" standard, which is fine, but I can't find a non-integrated headset with that angle bearing race anywhere. Integrated? Sure, but nothing in the old external cup style.
Does anyone know of a non-integrated headset with a 45 degree crown race? At this point, brand doesn't matter. |

I believe Ritchey headsets are 45 degrees.

Somebody may have a cobbled together solution, but I hate to say that your fork is not compatible with your frame.

Maybe our pal veloimports can help or call up Dan Large at XL Velo in San Diego... I believe he spec'd a Bixxis with a NOS headset of the same style you are after..

There is a Record headset, traditional cup, 1.125 out there, they are just really hard to find. And a different time fork would likely be cheaper. It's certainly rideable with the Easton fork that's on it now, just trying to line things up a bit, if I can. |

Ritchey as stated above or maybe Cane Creek has something in their inventory

I’m assuming this is a traditional EC34 headset.
If so Ritchey WCS is the obvious choice. If you’re attached to the original headset it’s possible that you can replace the bottom bearing with a Ritchey bearing of the same diameter. |

I have some weird HS bearing in my parts bin. I think it’s a Campy one. If it fits, and is useful, you can have it. It’s was very smooth, last I checked. PM me if you’re interested…

Yes they are Both Ritchey and Campagnolo use 45 degree lower bearing crown race seats Also, the 1 1/8 headset bearing can be found with 36/45 and 45/45 angles in otherwise identical dimensions. That would allow you to use an external cup Cane Creek headset simply by replacing the lower bearing for cheap. See the list in this excellent article. https://cyclingtips.com/2021/06/how-...bearing-sizes/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by jc031699; 09-19-2021 at 06:30 AM. |
