I didn’t most recently on two flights and it wasn’t recommended in the packing instructions for my case, a b2 Orucase mtb. It did recommend turning the cassette in towards the center of the bag.

I do, having centerlock rotors and the wolf tooth pack wrench makes it easy to install and take off

Sci Con!

Ditto the Sci Con. Super easy to pack up and down. Now that I've done it a bunch of times, I supplement the included padded bits with foam pipe insulation and it does the ticket. Break-down/build-up is a breeze, as is getting in/around the airport.

I've never removed them. I travel a ton with a buxum box and have never had an issue. As most of this travel is international the box only carries the bike and helmet to avoid any TSA repackaging, so it's unlikely that something could impact them.

This, absolutely, plus the 8mm wrench insert for pedals. I also take the cassette tool, then all center lock options and cassettes are covered. It’s a pretty awesome system and also lightweight.

Didn't see anyone mention in previous threads, but can any of these cases easily handle an ISP? Granted, I don't have this problem today but just in case someone nice decides to bequeath me a custom Ti bike with an ISP, it'd be nice to know which case to get!

S&S coupled frames are very nice. I never even thought about it but you could easily put one S&S bike in 2 cases and as someone said pack the rest with clothing etc... a few tools... no oversize fees...

For most domestic airlines, the oversize fee doesn’t apply to bikes any more. The over weight fee (above 50lbs) does. For international, sometimes weight maximum is 70lbs, but check with your airline.

I've used an EVOC soft bag with good success, the airline was good about keeping it upright and not stacking it though.
