Riding in Gothenberg, Sweden?
I'm going to Gothenberg for a week and would like to bring my bike but I know nothing about the area. Anyone ride there or have knowledge of the area? Is it feasible to train during the week and do one or two long rides on the weekend? We will be staying near the university. Also, if you can recommend a shop in town, that would be helfpul too. Thanks!

I was there with my bike three years ago competing in the World Transplant Games. The city has a very nice set of bike trails throughout. You can go on them all the way from the waterfront to a large park where there is good urban biking. You can take a ferry out to a series of pretty islands where there are also pleasant trails, many of them dirt, though. Beyond that, I don't know where to bike in the countryside and didn't have a chance to find out about shops.
It's a very pleasant city. You should enjoy your visit. |

register here: happymtb.org
Once registered, at the top of the screen you have a button called "nytt ämne"= new thread. Ask in a similar way as you are doing here, english will work np. You will get lots of good advice on where to ride and what shops are best. Im not familiar with the riding around "göteborg" myself. But i hear its good! Enjoy! B |

Very helpful. Now if my pidgin Swedish from Ikea would only help me. This is perhaps the one time that I wish I had bought the Garmin 800 instead of the 500.
