OT: James Bond

What better way to escape cable's news alerts than two hours with Bond. I was against the latest actor, Daniel Craig, taking over the role. After watching Casino Royale, I changed my mind.

William, is that a shark at 0:55?

Quantum of Solace out soon and I'll take my bike in steel, no Shimano:

Mary Ellen Moffitt. She broke my heart.

Bond movies, it's time for sharks again. Haven't see a shark in a Bond movie in a while. Maybe I am seeing things, but it looks like a shark at 0:55? Maybe he pushes her off the cliff and into the shark? Don't worry, Bond will shoot the shark. Sharks are merely bad guys who can swim.

Quint: You go in the cage, cage goes in the water, you go in the water, sharks in the water...our shark. Farewell and Adiu to you fair Spanish ladies, Farewell and Adiu you ladie of Spain, for we've recieved orders to sail back to Boston, and so never more shall we see you again.

When I first read that Daniel Craig was being considered for Bond I thought "what a great choice". He was really good in "Layer Cake". Connery will always be best and Roger Moore...can you get much worse?

zit-faced iPod

True story:

D.C. convinced me that I need to start working out....

12 years past being a zit-faced, stoned-out, iPod person the movie was able to pull the last remaining bit of teen-age envy out of me.

just sayin'

Yeah, looks good. I thought they did a great job on the last one. That shot at 1:23 is pretty amazing going through the glass roof. Not sure what's sexier the girl or the Aston Martin DBS.

Fyi, I saw the new Bond last night. It was totally worth the trip to the movies, a place filled with mouth breathing, zit-faced, stoned out iPod people. Bond movie rocks and as a bonus, there was a new trailer for next year's Star Trek which had the entire movie theater freaking out:

Frenetic energy and action, non existent plot, one of the best recorded car chases in history, not a bond film – more of a bourne film, way too weak a villain probably because of the missing story, great locations, great camera work, he is a dream to look at. It worked well enough for me in the mood I was in but I can totally get why lots of people would not like it or why it was not reviewed that well overall. Star Trek looks f'ing amazing.

I can't see all the negative stuff re 007, people should be thrilled for someone like craig @ the helm - moore? brosnan? please - we should be lucky that the franchise lasted this long. it was no casio, so what - he is just getting used to the role & he is going to be around for a long time based on what I see. I am not into men @ all but man those eyes!

Star Trek looks off the hook to me, like you I am a big a$$ trek fan, that I cannot wait for.

Word. Casino Royale blew me away, the plot, script were equal to the acting. Quantum, it was predictable in the sense that yes, we knew the next scene before it began. The opening scene...once he pulled over, I could hear the crowd in the theater exhale as they were blown away by the car chase.

The female role, she didn't do it for me and I dunno how I feel about Fields' death as it was too much Goldfinger meets OPEC; I need to see it again and I will. Bond's job for the Quantum of Solace mission was a sequel, we had a strong hunch of the sequence of events...imagine seeing it without having seen Casino Royale (as my friend's girlfriend did)? It was a great stand-alone movie, but sequels are tough to pull off. So now, now we'll see what the next mission is and just what Bond has up his sleeve.

My friend mentioned that Quantum lacked some Bond one-liners, it's important to keep Bond witty.
