The top ten included 4 previous winners along with the names you mentioned and of course Philipsen. Pretty competitive and fast race today.

That was quite the start to the Monuments this year. Fastest MSR to date. I wonder if some of that has to do with the cycling culture, like now races start right off the start gun where as in the olden days they might chill out a bit before the racing begins.

I think the biggest factor in making races more aggressive is the improvement in aerodynamics of the bikes and riders. Obviously this has a direct effect of making riders go faster, but just as importantly, it encourages more attacking. The lower the wind resistance, the lower the cost to attacking, and the lower the benefit of sitting in the peloton.

Kinda felt bad for Michael Matthews, fell short again by just a bit, arguably the best all-rounder pro cyclist Australia ever produced in recent times, this guy can sprint with the best and get over the climbs. Mr. Consistent = Second Forever.

And Luke...what the hell are you doing in the back the whole time??

If by equipment, you mean red blood cells .. GB served a 2-year suspension for doping including jail time

His suspension was for 2 years correct for too much caffeine which must have been banned by UCI at the time - it is not currently banned by WADA.

But more to the point of accuracy spent no acutal time in jail as far as I recall and could fine on Google.

I believe that PR will be on Peacock in the US for both men and women, but I'm not absolutely positive.

I think this is it. I think the victories of Will Bart earlier this year and Bettiol's this week are definitely influenced by aerodynamics and the advantage (or less disadvantage) that gives attacking riders.

Helluva race!!! What a sprint by Pogacar! He would have won it if not hit by Matthews' glasses

I'm not totally sure but it looks like Peacock has the ASO races - PR, TDF, Vuelta, Paris Nice etc., B/R has everything else for the US audience, the RCS races and the Belgium Classics stuffs. That's what it looks like to me.

For real, thank you B/R!

Was that what went flying in the final meters? I watched the replay several times and could not figure out where that object came from.

And I completely agree Pogi had some legs. To make that attack and then still finish 3rd in the sprint by less than a bike length!
