things found on rides - 2024 edition has started

I'm a bit late, but just started the "OK, I'll circle back and pick that up..." box for this year.

Good start on microfiber cloths and found this heavy full-body workout band today.

We'll talk more in about 8 months....

it's been slim pickens on the road lately, but I did find a Husky adjustable wrench on the road Sunday

Gave it to the tow truck driver parked in the church lot just down the street cause I already have a few adjustables

Not sure I'd turn back to pick up a piece of cloth, you never know what it was used on before...

I found my wife on the side of the road, and we've been married ever since.

An early call, but that probably wins the thread

Not exactly 'found on the road', but I did ride past a man walking in the opposite direction in full clerical/quasi-papal regalia last week. Relatively remote area, too.

Not exactly lost or tossed, I found it at the end of a driveway with a free sign. I did find it on a ride though.

70's Raleigh International.

Since 2024?

Unrelated:
On a lonely gravel road near Ann Arbor, I passed 2 nuns on bikes.

300mm crescent wrench off the road yesterday. Sure felt heavy in my back pocket.

Fair point, but one of my routes goes by the exit of a huge car wash and also by where the lowrider/classic car guys hang out on Sundays... I feel pretty good about those!

A new bungee cord and a decent flathead screwdriver so far.

I found an abandoned Buick in great condition but could not get it up or down the mountain dirt road.

@Wolfman, does the boat that's been sitting on the side of Old Topanga for years count? I've never been able to figure out how to stuff it into my jersey pocket so there it sits.

Nah, you have to be able to carry it homeā€¦ unless you worked up a bike trailer situation and pulled it behind you, then maybe it counts!

I've found so many microfiber cloths in my city's local park (see my blog) that I'm set for life. However, I found one that had some decayed leaves stuck too it and no amount of washing or picking at it could remove them. Any solutions?

Although not a found item, I frequently work at New Haven PD which is in downtown across from the train station. Directly across from the PD is a similar vintage Raleigh Gran Prix, Brooks saddle and all, that's been Kryptonite locked to the same pole in the same position, forever. Looks like it would be a fun restoration project, but it's not my size...
