Yeah, definitely not a '97. This is about 5 or 6 years younger than that, at least.

Thanks all for your input. My buddy is contacting SRAM and is trying to figure how this fork ended up on his bike. Too funny.

It was obviously replaced at some point.

If he was the original owner of the bike, he's must have forgotten about it 20 years ago before it got stashed in a shed. Maybe the original Mag 21 or whatever came on it failed.
