Yokozuna Reaction housing question

Trying to replace the brake cables and housing on my bike with Shimano R8000 shifters and TRP Mid-Reach brakes. Switching from Jagwire compressionless housing to Yokozuna Reaction. The diameter of the new housing is larger and it doesn't seem to fit into the slot in the Shimano levers. The Yokozuna kit came with step down ferrules, but they don't really fit either. What is the correct way to do this?

Sometimes people splice in a length of normal housing to go into the levers.

You can find a double female ferrule to do this.

Splicing another cable type is a bodge defeating the benefit of compression less housing, transition less cable runs and allows for the ingress of dirt and H2O.

Sand the end of the housing down or pick up the correct size ferrules.

I tried sanding the housing down and it slips in fine. Thanks for the advice.

Not complaining or arguing. I just want to make a clarification from someone who as actually used the recommendation, because these threads are often used as a reference, even many years from now.

The added section I am recommending is flat wound, and very very short. The amount of "compression" introduced by this is inconsequential.

The tiny cable is under the bar tape. Not sure how that's an issue.

Ok, fair enough. But that definitely does not work with all Yokozuna and all levers. The big advantage for me is the little tiny flex cable allows me to tuck the brake cables under the bar tape, and the Yokozuna always tries to "pop up".

The key here is that the end of each housing section has to be cut absolutely straight and perpendicular. An uneven housing interface will result in extra compression at the joint. The small extra compression at a single uneven housing interface is relatively small, but if there are multiple uneven intersections it can add up.

I explored using the Jagwire item linked above. I ran into the same problem with these as I did with the R8000 levers. The thick Yokozuna housing didn't slip into the female end of the Easybend housing segment. I reached out to Yokozuna for their recommendation since I'm not super happy with my sanded housing solution.
