What does it take to post pics?

Forgive me, I am new to Paceline....

I'm trying to add pics to my posts through the 'Manage Attachments' button, but I keep getting errors stating 'upload of file failed'. The images are taken on my phone and modernly sized, meaning 1-6 Mb in size.

I see beautiful pics of beautiful bikes in other threads so this must work somehow.

Am I doing something wrong?

Welcome!

The photos need to be relatively small. I aim for under 1MB and I always make sure that they are jpegs. Your phone might be generating a HEIF image, which you'd need to convert to jpeg. If you're on a Mac, you can use preview to convert the files...

Give it another shot and report back...

Two things have been key for me:

1. When I select an image to upload my (i)phone has a small/medium/large/original picklist. It has to be right around 1mb. Usually large works for me.

2. Cropping the image, even if only a teensy bit, locks the orientation when it’s uploaded here. That avoids the evil sideways pics.

There are other tips snd tricks—hosting, reusing an image you already posted in another thread, etc.

Easiest way I have found to upload photos is to get a Flickr account. Upload your photos to there then copy the BBcode and paste into paceline. One extra step but it works pretty well.

Imgur also works well. That is what I use and it has worked every time.

I can only post my photos in the tapatalk app. When I try on the traditional site I get the same error code!

Flickr URLs no longer seem to work with the image link icon.

For myself this is the easiest way...

https://postimages.org/

No account needed just click choose image

You will then see options below like hotlink for forum which I used for this
click copy icon on right side & then right click your post here & just paste all done

If you want a smaller clickable thumbnail image choose thumbnail for forums like this

Its all free & very quick & easy to use

This, Flickr sucks

Imgur Tip: if your pic shows up way too large in the forum when you preview it, insert a letter "l" (that's L ), right before the period. Example: If my pic name is

werw453wrwr.jpg then to make it smaller it would be werw453wrwrl.jpg

Strange, I've been posting images from Flickr here forever, never had a single issue using the BBCode links it provides.

And it's still free for me though I know there is an image limit for my free account.

You might want to check the online Resource Sticky at the top of GD

Lots of info there

I also can’t remember if you need 50 posts or 30 to post pictures

^This. On a Windows PC use MS Paint. Pretty easy. If one is not even remotely proficient at using any kind of software try the help menu.

Some photos that come out of my phone are huge. 56" on the long side. Best of luck to the OP.

True, it's not entirely free. I believe you get 1000 photos & videos free.

I was caught by surprise, as their original free threshold was something like 1TB. I had auto-upload enabled, didn't think anything of taking 25 pictures of the same sunset over a period of a few minutes, etc. When Flickr imposed their new 1000 image free limit, I had over 6000 images in my account.

I "solved" the problem by writing a tool to download albums and delete orphan images (those not in albums). I then uploaded most of them to Google Photos, for which I already pay for (I think) 2TB of cloud storage.

You can also realize photos on your phone, if that's what you're using. I find 20% of original size is about right.
