Sad to say but Rib is past it, 5 years earlier he would have torn the Scousers a new one, they were nothing special (still better than Bayern, mind you). He wouldn't have started had Coman not just recovered from a torn muscle fibre.

I know Ribery and, to a lesser extent, Robben are not highly regarded outside certain german areas but unjustly so. There was a time when Rib was a serious contender for a ballon d'or, and Robbens class is undisputed.

They have god-like status among Munich supporters (watch this -sound switched off if you wann stay sane) if you want to know why.

They even painted them inside the stadium (yes, the "Kurve" did this)

It wouldn't kill you to give some credit. Mane scored a special goal, and van Dijk is pretty good at football.

All the pundits thought Bayern would go through, at home, after the Wolfsburg thrashing and reacting to the Loew thing.

you could not have been any more obnoxious if you tried. no one cares about the hagiography of a rapist (Ribery) and a cheat (Robben)

such arrogance, no wonder your ilks are so despised anywhere outside of München.

No, I think Robben is highly regarded (clutch in big matches) and a great footballer - speed and cuts with the ball were top notch, as were his crosses. Ribery in his prime was good too, but his antics and fouls/red cards/dirty play was what turned me off. He seemed to relish that bad boy persona.

Rib was accused using the services of an underage hooker (consentual). If that is your definition of "rape", you may wanna google the real meaning.

Edit: Both Benzema and Ribery were cleared as it couldn't be proven anyone knew she was not of legal age - no conviction happened. As opposed to the US, age of consent in France is 15. The escort used the publicity gained by the trial to start a modelling career, several media performances, and started a fashion label.

To use "no one" when what you really mean is "i", and then call others arrogant - ye well. Cheers, mate.

Is that so? most gave Pool a good chance, and before the first leg, the media i saw, even the german ones, were musing how many Bayern would get at Anfield. I did write (you left that out in the quote) that Pool played better than Bayern and they deserved to advance, still i think even this very ordinary '19 Bayern side would have had a shot at advancing had Kovac shown some courage.
Still neither leg was anything for the historybooks, was it. Two rather dull matches from both sides.

Lording past glories, and seizing the narrative by insisting that the other club prevailed against a terrible, horrible, no-good version of your team is . . . maybe not the classiest way to be a fan?

Furthermore: I’m (also?) German, and when I hear “Fußballgott” there’s only one player that comes to mind, and he wears a St. Pauli shirt now.

Intersting list - Pep # 5.

criteria:

'What is a great coach? How to compare two major technicians to sometimes more than half a century of distance? And, in the end, what is the best of them, all times combined? In order to make its choice and establish its Top 50, France Football has chosen three main criteria - the club winners, the trace and the legacy left on the game, the personality - to which is added, implicitly, a fourth: the duration and the impact of the career.'

Nice to see Lobanovski and Happel so high on the list, but Bielsa is much too low, and Rijkaard has no place in a group like this.
