OT: Sites for selling cars.

I'm trying to sell a street rod for my mom that belonged to my dad. Is their any free classified ads other than craigslist that is mainly high end hot rods? I really don't want to pay 30-40 bucks for an ad. Thanks.

Idle thought....

If it is a really interesting car, you could try to get it on Bring a Trailer, which I think is bringatrailer.com.

It is the closest car site to this one in terms of attitude. Not sure how they get cars on there, but it is always fun to check out.

It's not free, but if you have an unusual or really nice vehicle to sell it might be worth checking out. I don't know of any other free sites other than CL.

AutaBuy is an ad magazine and website that lists hundreds of hot rods in every issue. There are quite a few dealers who are in every issue so they must think it works.

If you want to maximize interest (and sale price) without having to deal with a bunch of folks coming by to check it out in person you'll need a bunch of pictures showing the car's condition: 1) engine bay, 2) interior and trunk, 3) exterior body, and 4) undercarriage.

Unless you're only asking $2000 for the car (a silly price that is obviously way, way low) some buyers (especially non-locals) will request a PPI (pre-purchase inspection).

eBay's fee is collected after sale is consumated, so no risk. Those are sometimes picked up on Bring a Trailer.

Is the driveway not working? I can't imagine folks don't have an interest in the area or know someone with an interest. There's always a few cars around here that peak my interest when I see them on the road or in a garage. Yes I've been watching one particular car for over a decade.... just waiting for it to get pushed out of the carport.

I've bought a few cars long distance before using online forums like the paceline. Maybe there's a Hudson forum?

Nice vehicle! Now that you've posted it, tell us about it. All original? Upgraded? etc...

William

PS: A few prior BaT Hudson listings...

Check out Jalopy Journal. This seems like it would fit perfectly into their demographics.
